We have it pretty lucky working in the travel industry. Part of our job is to travel to destinations so we have firsthand knowledge and advice when someone wants to go there.

Bianca has just returned from a “work” trip onboard the Scenic Space-Ship Amber from Budapest to Nuremburg. Hear everything she has to say about this amazing journey.

Tell us about the Scenic Amber…

I was absolutely amazed at the full experience Scenic offers. From the arrival transfers to being greeted onboard, the staff are so welcoming. At check-in, we were seated in the lounge with a welcome drink whilst our bags were delivered to our cabins. In the cabins, our personal butlers was able to show us a few of the features inside the cabin, such as the beds reclining up and down, the mini bar which was restocked daily, room service menu, organised for a coffee to be delivered to our cabin in the morning and the tv functionality. Great that you can listen to the daily port talks on the tv should you wish to have an afternoon in your cabin.

The facilities onboard were great, the vitality pool which is available on all ships except Crystal, Jewel and Jade for the European boats was great. It is lovely to be able to relax in here on sailing days and after long touring days. The Riverview café was great for light snacks and for lunches after mid-day tours. Portobello’s was a must experience. The 7 course meal was decadent and nice as a change from the main dining room. The Crystal dining room, the staff and the food was amazing, the service especially for the guests with allergies was exceptional, they were always so accommodating and looked after us and even cooked separate meal requests to accommodate my allergies.

A great benefit of upgrading to Diamond deck is that guests will also receive private transfers, canapes and dinner in Table La Rive.

What are your Must Do’s!

Palais Litchstein was a great experience, very nice to get a bit more dressed up and head out to the private concert.

We were very lucky with where the ship docked in Budapest as we had views of the Parliament Building which was a beautiful sight especially at night.

I also loved the bike ride Durnstein to Melk. The 32 kilometers seemed quite a breeze with the electric bike. Mostly flat and we actually arrived in Melk well before the ship.

Vienna sightseeing was great although as we did the tour to Bratislava we only had half a day there which was definately not enough time. Would have loved another half a day to be able to see everything else.

We also were treated to a short tour in Nuremburg, depending on your flight time out will depend if you get this experience, guests with earlier flights unfortunately headed straight to the airport whereas later flights could have time onboard the bus to do a tour before heading to the airport.

Hot Tip!

Take your daily schedule with you when disembarking as this has emergency contact details and also details about transfers etc. Some guests were waiting for transfers which had left at a different time.

Also ensure you have your Scenic tailor-made app downloaded and the internal contact downloaded also. This works great when walking around it pings when you are at an important landmark and will explain what it is.
