From three of Australia’s most sophisticated cities to the tribes of Papua New Guinea and a maiden call at Boracay, a tiny island in The Philippines, this is a grand voyage of extremes. Explore Manila at leisure, leaving late evening, and indulge on four sea days to Yokohama.

Highlights of this cruise:

Melbourne
Originally part of New South Wales, Victoria became a colony in its own right in 1851. The discovery of gold and the development of agriculture propelled Melbourne’s rise to prominence and prosperity. Flower gardens and graceful, tree-lined boulevards add a refined air to Melbourne, regarded as the hub of Australia’s cultural, intellectual and financial life – at least by Melbournians!

Manila
Large, loud, chaotic and colourful, the cosmopolitan capital of the Philippines sprawls along the east coast of Luzon island. At the heart of the city is Intramuros, a medieval Spanish fortress packed with historic buildings. Explore the 143-acre Rizal Park, see the colonial-style Malacañang Palace (home of the President) or visit the Ayala Museum, which chronicles the rich tapestry of Philippine history.

Yokohama
Edo was an obscure fishing village until it became the capital of the Tokugawa shogunate from 1604 to 1866. When the emperor was restored to power, this new imperial capital was renamed Tokyo (Eastern capital). The wide ocean, the harbour with its special atmosphere, the hill which stands in a row of steep slopes, a Chinatown which is full of exotic moods – there are so many “postcard scenes” in Yokohama.
