DAY ONE – ARRIVE DARWIN 

You’ve arrived in Darwin – it’s yours to explore. Spend the day at your leisure before checking in to your accommodation.

OVERNIGHT: 2 nights Rydges Darwin Central

DAY TWO – DARWIN 

This morning take a stroll around Darwin, taking in the fascinating history at your own pace before joining your afternoon City Sights tour. This afternoon your tour will take in the best of this tropical city, highlights including the Stokes Hill Wharf area, Botanic Gardens and the Chinese Temple, the Mooring Basin, and Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory plus Darwin Aviation Museum. DAY THREE – DARWIN TO KAKADU NATIONAL PARK

It’s time to visit one of the world’s most incredible natural environments. As you travel along the Arnhem Highway south-east of Darwin the anticipation builds. Soon you’ll be in the heart of the world famous Kakadu National Park enjoying a full day of immersive experiences. You’ll cruise the Yellow Water Billabong, search for saltwater crocodiles, see a variety of informative displays depicting the rich Aboriginal history of the area at the Warradjan Cultural Centre, and be guided to ancient rock art galleries at Nourlangie.

DAY FOUR – KAKADU NATIONAL PARK TO DARWIN

At the World Heritage area Ubirr, your guide will reveal extraordinary art sites of spiritual significance to local Indigenous people dating back more than 20,000 years. On your way to join the Guluyambi Cruise on the East Alligator River, you’ll visit a stunning lookout to take in the majestic vistas of the renowned Kakadu wetlands. Later, with special permission of the traditional owners, enjoy the privilege of going ashore in Arnhem Land. To cap off an enriching day, you’ll visit the Bowali Visitor Centre before returning to Darwin.

DAY FIVE – BOARD THE GHAN EXPEDITION IN DARWIN

Settle in to the comforts of The Ghan, relax in your cabin or mingle with fellow travellers in the Outback Explorer Lounge. Enjoy lunch ahead of your Off Train Excursion in Katherine. In a region renowned for jaw-dropping natural assets, Katherine boasts one of the Top End’s best – the incredible Nitmiluk Gorge.

DAY SIX – THE GHAN EXPEDITION, ALICE SPRINGS

Your arrival into Alice Springs after breakfast provides you with time to explore the iconic town in the red heart of Australia. Prepare for a day of fascinating excursions and, in the evening, dine under a million stars. (B,L,D)

DAY SEVEN – THE GHAN EXPEDITION, COOBER PEDY

When you next disembark in remote Manguri, you’ll enjoy a full day exploring the amazing opal mining township of Coober Pedy. (B,L,D)

After completing the famous north-south crossing of the interior you will arrive into Adelaide. (B)
